Nowadays, kids prefer playing on their phones or tablets rather than playing outside. While getting some of them to exercise might be a challenge, there might be something else that might entice them to leave their devices — remote-controlled cars. These are the best things to get kids outside and having fun. But RC cars are not just for kids. Even adults can have fun with them, and that’s because they’re not just toys. Nowadays, RC cars come in all shapes, sizes and price ranges. Some even require a certain level of skill to work. So, with that said, here is a list of the 10 best RC cars you can buy in 2022.

10/10 Traxxas X-Maxx

A studio shot of the Traxxas X-Maxx

Traxxas is one of the leading names when it comes to RC cars. They have many models, but we start our list with one of the newest products called X-Maxx. The Maxx RC car has been in the Traxxas portfolio for quite some time, but X-Maxx is new for 2022 and much fiercer than you might expect. It measures 22.5 inches long and has 15.95 inches front and rear tracks. It weighs just under 10.5 pounds. Powered by a 2400kW motor, this ferocious beast is capable of speeds of up to 60mph! Yes, this is not a joke. Starts at $579.99 and goes up to $1,070. Obviously, this isn’t a cheap radio-controlled car, but can you put a price on happiness?

9/10 Blexy RC Truck

This SUV with chunky F1 shaped tires is perfect for your child. Its top speed is 20 km/h (13 mph), and you won’t have to worry about crossing the occasional puddle – all its components are waterproof. In fact, Blexy says you can even give it a good wash with a strong water spray when you’re done slogging through the mud. Speaking of which, it has all kinds of protective parts like a front plate, roll cage, and even a special frame that protects the electric motor from bumps and all. Priced at $21.89, this is the cheapest RC car on this list.

8/10 Arente trick

If you need something fun and entertaining for kids, Orrente trick is your choice. This car does tricks and stunts like tripping and flipping. It has two engines and a four-wheel drive setup that allows it to do crazy stunts. This 1/28 scale model can move forward, backward, turn left, right, flip 360 degrees and more. It does tank turns better than the Rivian R1T! The Orrente RC car even comes with an LED light. It even has flexible wheels that allow it to do all these tricks at higher speeds. The only downside is the short battery life. But regardless, it’s the best $29.99 you’ll ever spend.

7/10 Traxxas Bandit

The entry level model in the Traxxas range is the Bandit – 1/10 scale RC Buggy. It features a lightweight chassis, sharp handling and can reach speeds of up to 35 mph. Buggy can drive on beaten tracks just as well as on pavements. It has waterproof electronics, which means you can play with it in all weather conditions. Powered by a modified 550 12-turbo engine, the Bandit makes the perfect RC car for kids and a basic RC model for people who want to play with serious stuff. Although it costs less than $200, there is a catch; battery and charger sold separately. Despite its rather steep price tag, the Traxxas Bandit is arguably one of the best first-time RC track cars you can buy.

6/10 Jada Toys Fast and Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R Brian

All Fast and Furious fans welcome. This is your chance to own Brian’s Nissan Skyline GT-R, albeit in the form of an extreme drifting RC car. Yes, it’s an electric drift RC car, sporting the same silver and blue livery as the original car. Currently, Jada Toys’ GT-R is a drift oriented car. Therefore, the manufacturer does not provide information about it. However, Jada Toys does offer spare rear tires because they’re bound to take a lot of damage during your living room drifting – or driveway for that matter.

5/10 Violation of Arrma 6S

Arrma is also known to build crazy RC cars. They have cars that go 20 mph and even models that can go well over 80 mph. We picked one from the latest lot called Infraction. This 1/7 scale model is a lowrider truck with an evil face. It is a 4×4 model that can be driven on loose gravel, asphalt, smooth ground and low grass in sun, rain and ice. It even comes with a handbrake! The chassis includes a rear ventilated disc brake module and a powerful Spektrum SPMS650 servo. Arrma says it’s best for intermediate drivers who want to experience RC cars that go over 80 mph.

4/10 Traxxas Rustler 4×4 VXL Stadium Truck

Another Traxxas RC vehicle that made our list is the Rustler 4×4 VXL truck. Despite not being a truck per se, but a supercar-like body that rides on huge Talon EXT wheels, the Rustler is essentially a mean machine on wheels. Sending power on all fours with AWD wheel drive, it can reach a top speed of 65+ mph. Stability on shaky ground is provided by a tapered chassis, which is also 20mm longer than the usual Traxxas platform and houses a 3500kW Velineon brushless electronic motor.

Let’s change the setting to another big one Related Team Product: Trophy Rat. Not only does it look cool, but it also packs a punch with a 3300kW brushless motor, 12mm front and rear hex nuts and waterproof components. Mind you, this rusty body is the perfect place to sleep because not only does it contain LED lights front and back, but it can take a lot of damage when it’s hurtling through your yard at 40 mph.

2/10 Traxxas TRX-4 Defender

Traxxas TRX-4 Defender in action

Don’t really like the new Defender and the old one would still blow your budget? Fear not, Traxas is here (again). The TRX-4 Defender is not only cool looking, but packs a mean off-road punch. Traxxas equipped it with portal axles (yes, you read that right!), remote locking differentials, and a Titan motor powered by 6- or 7-cell nickel-metal hydride batteries. Oh, and you can also choose 2 or 3 cell Li-Po batteries. Everything is nicely attached to the chassis with a heavy-duty steel frame and GTS aluminum shock absorbers. And, remember: it’s not about speed or riding in the dust, it’s more about carefully planning your path as you overcome all kinds of obstacles. But the big question is, are you willing to spend $500 on it?

1/10 Altair Power Pro 4×4 All Terrain Truck

Want to crash the dunes but can’t afford to crash your personal vehicle? The Altair Power Pro 4×4 RC Truck is one of the best RC vehicles out there and can help you do just that right in your backyard! It has a four-wheel independent suspension system with six metal shock absorbers and all-terrain wheels that can handle just about anything you throw your way!
