2025 Lucid Air Pure Gains Increased Range and Standard Heat Pump

2025 Lucid Air Pure Gains Increased Range and Standard Heat Pump

California-based startup Lucid Motors is preparing its second model, the Gravity SUV, for production later this year, but it’s not neglecting the Air sedan. For the 2025 model year, Lucid is introducing several updates to the Air, increasing the range of the Pure base model and adding a heat pump as a standard feature across the lineup.

The entry-level version of Lucid’s electric luxury sedan now offers a range of 420 miles on a single charge, an increase of just one mile compared to the 2024 model. Although this might seem minor, the 2025 Air Pure’s battery pack has a slightly smaller capacity (84.0 kWh) than the 88.0-kWh unit in the 2024 model. Lucid claims that the 2025 Air Pure is now the most energy-efficient vehicle ever, achieving 5.0 miles per kWh and earning a 146-MPGe rating from the EPA.

Lucid states that the smaller battery pack allows for more cars to be built from the same amount of raw materials and reduces the demand on the public power grid during recharging. Additionally, the smaller battery provides more miles of range while consuming less energy.

While the 2025 Pure sees an increase in range, the more expensive models experience a slight decrease in range due to changes in the EPA testing process. The Touring now has a maximum range of 406 miles, down from 411, and the 2025 Grand Touring can travel 512 miles on a charge, four miles fewer than the 2024 model.

For 2025, the entire Lucid Air lineup includes a standard heat pump, which was first introduced on the high-performance Air Sapphire and added to the Air Grand Touring for 2024. Lucid also reports that every 2025 Air features “new-generation control hardware” that enhances the infotainment system with three times the processing power and twice the memory.

The DreamDrive driver assistance system, which includes blind-spot monitoring and a 3-D surround view, is now standard on all models. Additionally, the Lucid Air Grand Touring comes with the Surreal Sound Pro sound system as a standard feature.

Pricing remains the same as in 2024 for the Pure, starting at $71,400. The price for the Touring increases by $1,000 to $80,400, and the Grand Touring will cost $112,400. Lucid announces that orders for the 2025 models are open starting today.
