A Toyota Fortuner with a toilet seat? This modified SUV is the perfect travel companion

The toilet inside the Toyota Fortuner SUV is accessible from inside the cabin as it has been built into the extra room of the cabin.

It’s common to find fully functional toilets in motorhomes, campers and caravans, but it’s not every day you see a toilet seat in a regular car. A Toyota Fortuner owner from Trivandrum, Kerala has fixed a toilet seat in his off-road SUV, essentially to avoid the pain of finding a hygienic toilet while traveling to off-the-beaten-track locations.

The toilet inside the Fortuner SUV is accessible from inside the cabin as it has been integrated into the extra cabin room and half of the trunk. The storage box takes up half the space of the third row of seats, making it a six-seat SUV with limited cargo space in the back.

The vehicle has been modified by Ojes Automobiles, a Kerala-based coach development company known for creating vans for various film stars. Talking to HT Auto about the modification, Biju Marcose, MD, Ojes Automobiles said, “We study the requirements of the customers and make all possible modifications according to their needs. This particular customer (Fortuner) wants to travel across the country and toilets may not be available in all areas, so he wanted to put a commode in the car.’

The vehicle uses a marine toilet system that was imported from the Netherlands for the purpose, Marcose said. It comes with a drain tank and touch screen flush system that allows you to use really less water to pump out the waste. Using certain chemicals can help eliminate odors from waste that can later be disposed of.

A video of the modified vehicle posted by a YouTube user shows how the toilet can be accessed from the cabin, but there is very little space and it’s not very comfortable to sit in for too long. However, it is undoubtedly a great relief to have a functional toilet seat in the car when traveling to faraway places.
