Chevy Equinox Wiper Size
The windshield wipers required for the Chevy Equinox vary by year. It’s important to shop specifically for your year, make and model to ensure you get the right size wiper blades for both sides of your vehicle. The 2022 Chevy Equinox requires:
- Driver side: 24-inch
- Passenger side: 18-inch
- Rear windshield: does not apply
Previous model year dimensions
- 2018-2022: 24″ driver side, 18″ passenger side, without rear wiper blade
- 2010-2017: 24″ driver side, 17″ passenger side and 13″ rear
- 2005-2009: 24″ driver side, 19″ passenger side and 15″ rear
How to replace windshield wipers
If you don’t know how to replace the wiper blades, follow these steps. Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual or the instructions on your new wiper blades for more details.
- Lift the metal arm away from the windshield, making sure it’s safe. It could potentially snap back against your windshield.
- Unhook the old wiper blade. Find the point where the metal arm meets the wiper blade. There should be a rubber cap that holds the brush in place, unhook it and slide the wiper blade off.
- Insert a new wiper blade. Install the new wiper blade in the reverse order of step 2.
- Repeat for the second wiper. Follow these instructions when replacing the second wiper blade.
How we test wipers
To properly test these wiper blades, we wanted to simulate a variety of wet weather conditions as closely as possible. So naturally we used a garden hose! Since the garden hose at St Car and driver garage has several settings, we were able to simulate light, medium and heavy rain.
Now that we’ve got the precipitation set up, we jump into the driver’s seat to run the wipers ourselves. We alternated between intermittent, medium, and high wiper speeds at each rain simulation level, running each speed for 30 seconds. After we cycled around the water level, we ran the blades for 30 seconds across the dry windshield and noted any noises or streaks.
We then compiled our results based on ease of installation, water removal at each speed, squeaks, rattles, banding, adapter quality, and finally, price. Once the tests were completed, we were satisfied that each wiper blade was tested and rated equally in each problem area.
Why should we trust?
Car and driver and its sister publications Hearst Autos represent three of the most influential automotive publications in the world. With the inheritance of Autoweek, Car and Driver, and Road and track behind us, the Hearst Autos Gear Team doesn’t have to worry about our results. Our product and gear selections and recommendations are based on testing and knowledge, not hype.
For consistency, this test was conducted in an environment that provided the same testing procedures for each product: Car and driver garage. We tested the wiper blades at every wiper speed and in different amounts of precipitation. We then rated each wiper blade on ease of installation, water removal at each speed, squeaks, rustles, streaks, adapter quality, and finally, price.
After debriefing, we agreed that our test was fair, legitimate, and provided the most complete information to enable us to recommend our choices.
