BMW celebrates the 50th anniversary of its racing division with a special edition of its flagship M 1000 RR sports motorcycle with a special badge and extra chic.

I’m more of a crowd “I didn’t know BMW was making cars until I passed them,” but I realize that in some circles there is a deep love for performance and, in some cases, the exclusivity of BMW M car models. BMW Motorrad is trying to take advantage of this. In recent years, BMW has moved from its HP designation for its high-performance exclusive motorcycle models to the same M designation it uses on the parent company’s cars.

The M 1000 RR debuted in 2020 and became the first motorcycle to use the M designation from BMW. The M 1000 RR already comes with performance features aimed both on the street and on the track. It has everything from cruise control and heated handles to a speed limiter on the pitline and start control. It also has seven driving modes and several electronic driving aids. The 50 Years /// M package adds exclusive Sao Paulo yellow paint, anniversary badges, the M GPS Lap Timer software, a carbon package that uses carbon fiber for the wings and some fairing panels, and the M Billet Pack with aluminum details. , among other additions.

BMW Motorsport GmbH was founded in 1972 to consolidate BMW’s racing efforts. Since then, BMW has found success in everything from Formula One to the Paris-Dakar Rally to winning the first AMA Superbike Championship in 1976.

The M 1000 RR 50 Years M package is due to be available from dealers later this year, and the price in the US is $ 32,495.
