Bmw M is celebrating its first 50 years with the XM, a high-performance super SUV and the first model designed specifically for the brand since the M1 designed in 1978 by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The car’s design echoes the concept of the same name, which announced its arrival at the 2021 Art Basel event. The proportions are those of a large SUV (5.11 meters long, 2 meters wide, 1.75 meters high and a wheelbase of 3.10 meters) with powerful volumes and an elongated silhouette: design elements typical of the M brand, with a reinterpretation of the look of the front, created for luxury segment models such as the 7 Series, X7 and iX.

Headlights divided into two separate units, a double radiator grille with golden contours and continuous lighting around the perimeter, as well as large air intakes are the elements that characterize the front end. On the side, the gold stripe resembles the black stripe that runs along the body of the M1. Another reminder of the past is the engraved logos on the flat rear window and the slatted structure of the taillights. M light-alloy wheels, standardly installed in 21-inch format with the possibility of additional options up to 23 inches, have a rather characteristic design.

The expressive and opulent styling of the exterior echoes the interior with sporty seats and color combinations unique to this model. Standard equipment includes M multifunction seats, knee protectors and an M leather steering wheel, as well as special graphics including turn signals for the BMW Curved Display and the BMW Projection Display. The design of the back of the XM was inspired by an exclusive living room. Heated backrests extend to the sides of the rear compartment, and the cushions are said to offer passengers a high level of comfort. The sculptural headliner features a three-dimensional prism structure and 100 LEDs for illumination. There is a choice of four different upholstery options to personalize the cabin, as well as new Vintage leather for the upper sections of the dashboard and door panels.
