BorgWarner has announced that it has been selected to provide eMotors High Voltage Hairpin (HVH) for the electric car brand in China. eMotors will be used in the company’s 800-volt propulsion system platform. The car, equipped with this platform, is expected to begin mass production in October 2023.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with this Chinese leader in electric vehicles to succeed in the battery electric vehicle sector,” said Dr. Stefan Demerle, President and General Manager of BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems. “BorgWarner’s EMotors are highly reliable, more efficient, and have the highest power and torque density, as well as an example of our extensive experience in e-mobility applications.”

800V oil-cooled eMotors from BorgWarner are available as motors or stator and rotor assemblies. These include a built-in rotor with permanent magnets and patented stator insulation improvement technologies that provide high durability and reliability, the company said.

They provide a maximum efficiency of more than 96% and have patented HVH stator winding technology. In addition, the engine runs on energy efficiency and environmental friendliness with excellent noise, vibration and stiffness (NVH), as well as up to 4% higher power and torque density compared to other products of its breed, adds BorgWarner. During vehicle braking and on descent, the motor can also convert mechanical energy into electrical energy and charge the battery via an inverter.
