BYD India opens its first electric car dealership in Ernakulam

BYD India, a subsidiary of the world’s leading new energy vehicle manufacturer BYD, today inaugurated its first passenger car dealership in Ernakulam, Kerala. The dealership will be operated by EVM Southcoast in Kochi.

The showroom was inaugurated by Sabu Johnny, Managing Director, EVM Group, in the presence of senior officials of BYD India and EVM Southcoast.

EVM Southcoast will provide consumers in the Kerala market with access to BYD’s all-electric vehicles. BYD India was launched in November 2021 electric MPV e6 at Rs 29 lakh. According to the Apex FADA dealer organization, BYD India sold a total of 153 electric vehicles between April and July 2022. The company also sells pure electric buses.

August 10 of this year BYD India signs MoU with HDFC Bank for inventory financing of its dealer network across India.

According to BYD India, the showroom, spread over 2,500 square feet, is equipped with well-trained professionals and complete facilities, including service bays, customer lounge and electric vehicle charging stations, with the aim of offering customers the best in-store experience.

Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President, Electric Passenger Cars, BYD India said, “Starting in Kochi, we are getting closer to our target customers and are excited to open our first showroom in the country with EVM Southcoast. We hope that our customized products and services will stimulate and accelerate environmental initiatives in the region.”
