General Motors brand sports car racing program manager Laura Clauser revealed the plan to field “as many cars as possible” in the double points round of the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship, without specifying the exact number.

This suggests that Cadillac is committed to having all three V-LMDhs competing in next year’s WEC and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the French Enduro on June 11-12.

This will mean that Chip Ganassi Racing’s sole full-season WEC entry for Cadillac Racing will be joined by the American team’s IMSA car, with V-LMDh also running for North American Action Express Racing.

Clauser’s latest comments represent a step up from previous reports about Cadillac’s plans for Le Mans, which said in July that the company wanted to add to its full-season WEC entry and field multiple cars.

However, Clauser stressed that increasing Cadillac’s presence in the Hypercar field at Le Mans will depend on the acceptance of any additional bids by race organizer and WEC promoter Automobile Club de l’Ouest.

“You have to be invited by the ACO to come to Le Mans,” she said.

“If you have a full-season entry, you’re guaranteed Le Mans because it’s part of the season, so we’ll have at least one.

“The rest is waiting for that communication and coordinating it with the ACO: it will all come down to what is written in the invitation.”

Cadillac has so far logged 11,000 km on the two chassis since testing began in July as the marque prepares for the race debut of its LMDh at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, which opens the IMSA series in January. on which he also intends to launch three cars.

Clauser called the 24-hour test “the next big thing” in Caddy’s development program.

“We would like to have a 24-hour test by the end of the year,” she said. “You learn the most when you do it.”

She was not told when or where the test would take place or if it would be before the next official IMSA test at Daytona in early December, only that it would be “until January”.
