Elon Musk is making Tesla’s self-driving beta available to everyone in this country

San Francisco, November 24: On Thursday, Elon Musk announced that Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta version is now available to everyone in North America.

“Tesla Autopilot’s full beta is now available to anyone in North America who requests it from the car’s screen, provided you’ve purchased the option. Congratulations to the Tesla Autopilot/AI team on a major milestone!” Tesla CEO tweeted. Elon Musk Takes Over Twitter; Will he become the sole face of communication for a social media company like Tesla?.

The FSD deployment comes as Tesla faces a criminal investigation by the US Department of Justice over potentially false claims related to Autopilot, the company’s advanced driver assistance system.

In September, Tesla’s owner sued the electric car maker, saying the company and its CEO were “deceptively and misleadingly” selling its Autopilot and Total Self-Driving software. Tesla rival General Motors is temporarily suspending advertising on Twitter following Elon Musk’s takeover.

Briggs Matsko of California said he paid a $5,000 premium for his 2018 Tesla Model X to get “enhanced autopilot” that was sold as a precursor to the FSD software, which now costs $15,000 but is still in beta -phase.

Moreover, Musk came under scrutiny in August over the controversial Autopilot advanced driver assistance system, which is said to have killed many people, and federal and state regulators turned up the heat on the electric car maker.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) also upgraded its investigation from a preliminary assessment to an engineering analysis, asking Tesla to answer questions about the dash cam as part of a study of 830,000 Autopilot vehicles.

At the Tesla AI Day 2022 event, Musk said that FSD technology will be ready for global deployment by the end of this year.
