Ferrari presents the SP8 Unica, the latest in a series. The car is part of the most exclusive group of all production of the company from Maranello, namely to those unique models that are tailored to customer requirements and designed based on his requirements. The SP8 Unica, developed by the Ferrari Style Center under the direction of Flavio Manzoni, Chief Design Officer, is a two-seater sports berlinetta based on the F8 Tributo platform. Its taut lines and aggressive attitude make it unmistakable, thanks also to the sharp front protruding. Central to achieving this effect was the redesign of the headlights and, consequently, the change of the brake air intake.
One of the main design features of this unique car is the extensive use of parametric modeling techniques and 3D prototypes (additive production) used by designers and engineers of the Maranel-style center to completely rethink the shape of the radiator grille and engine intake. This advanced manufacturing process, which allowed us to create perfect 3D grids from full volume, also contributed to a sense of continuity of cast parts and completeness of surfaces.
Procedural graphics solutions have implemented a dialogue directly with the grilles and indicate the overall design of the Un48 SP48: especially noteworthy is the transition from black to body color, which includes windows, roof and engine hood. The pronounced visor effect of the front is further emphasized by the reduction in the area of the side windows and the elimination of the rear window, which increases the muscularity of the SP48 Unica, which seems to be molded from a single unit. The plan highlights the central part of the roof, which contains a graphic representation of the air intakes, which belong to those located in the rear of the engine compartment of carbon fiber in front of the spoiler. And it is from an elevated perspective that one can best appreciate the stylistic research that permeates SP48 Unica, revealing the exquisite play of symmetry and continuity offered by the lines that make up its design.
The interior design, which retains the substantial technical identity of the F8 Tributo, is based on the elimination of the rear window and the intense search for a combination of colors and upholstery that would best suit the sporty, streamlined and aggressive nature. with SP48 Unica. An example is the black Alcantara® with special laser perforations that cover most of the seats and interior, under which you can see the iridescent red-orange fabric of the same color as the body. Its motif echoes the motif of hexagons disappearing from calendars, and procedural livery on the roof, giving the car a pleasant effect of continuity of interior and exterior. At the entrance to the SP48 Unica also catches the eye polished headlight covers with the same hexagonal pattern, laser-heated.
