Around 1970 it was stored and left until it was rescued from storage in 2001. A complete restoration took place in 2002, and it has been in operation ever since.
Under the hood is a fuel-injected Rochester 283ci V8 that sends power to the rear wheels via a Muncie-built four-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. It’s not some kind of restomod either, as it still has ribbed drum brakes, a solid rear axle and 15-inch steel wheels.

These brakes may not seem suitable for a race car, but they are actually part of a very rare factory competition brake package. A few parts of the car that aren’t vintage are mostly safety-related, including a racing driver’s seat, updated roll cage and fire extinguisher.
Perhaps one of the most desirable features of this particular Corvette race car is that it is still street legal. The five-digit odometer shows 21k miles, and the current owner has put on about 4,000 of those. This is the kind of ride where we get to see someone actually drive a car and meet up for a coffee between vintage race weekends without a problem.
