Wholesale trade in passenger cars in India According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, August saw a year-on-year growth of 21 percent, thanks to improved semiconductor supplies and festive demand. According to the latest data released by the industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), 2,81,210 units were dispatched to dealers last month compared to 2,32,224 units in August 2021.
Similarly, total two-wheeler wholesale sales increased to 15,57,429 units last month as against 13,38,740 units a year ago, a growth of 16 percent. Total three-wheeler sales rose to 38,369 units last month as against 23,606 units in August 2021, an increase of 63 percent.
Sales across segments grew 18 percent to 18,77,072 units in August this year from 15,94,573 units in the same month last year, SIAM said.
