On Monday (May 20), Microsoft introduced the latest offerings for consumers, the Surface Pro (11th edition) and Surface Laptop (7th edition), during its Surface and Windows AI event. These devices succeed the business-oriented Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6, unveiled in March of the same year. Notably, these consumer-centric devices mark Microsoft’s debut in the realm of Copilot+ PCs, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Unlike their business counterparts, these PCs are driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X series chipsets rather than the Intel Core Ultra chipsets.
Microsoft Surface Pro and Surface Laptop price, availability
The Microsoft Surface Pro, featuring a 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD internal storage configuration with an LCD display, kicks off at $999 (approximately Rs. 83,000). This variant is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus chipset. Likewise, the Microsoft Surface Laptop, boasting a 13.8-inch display, also starts at $999 (roughly Rs. 83,000). It comes with the Snapdragon X Plus chipset, coupled with 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD internal storage. Both devices will be offered in Black, Dune, Platinum, and Sapphire color options.
Both Surface models are slated to hit the shelves on June 18. Enthusiasts can now pre-order these devices via the Microsoft website.
Microsoft Surface Pro, Surface Laptop specifications
The Microsoft Surface Pro (11th edition) is a versatile 2-in-1 PC boasting a 13-inch display available in both LCD and OLED options, featuring a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is powered by the Snapdragon X Plus and Elite chipsets, touted by the company to be 90% faster than the previous Surface Pro generation. These devices also integrate the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU capable of over 40 trillion operations per second (TOPS). The Surface Pro offers configurations with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB Gen 4 SSD internal storage.
Enhancements in video and audio calling are notable on the Surface Pro, with the inclusion of a front-facing webcam featuring a 114-degree ultrawide 1440p sensor. This webcam supports AI-powered Windows Studio Effects. Additionally, a dedicated Copilot button adjacent to the spacebar enhances functionality. The Surface Pro also features a detachable Flex keyboard, a kickstand with a 165-degree hinge, a customizable haptic touchpad, and integrated pen storage. It supports rapid 65W charging.
On the other hand, the new Surface Laptop (7th edition) is available in two display variants: 13.5-inch and 15-inch. Both models boast IPS LCD panels with touch support, safeguarded by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. They offer a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and Dolby Vision IQ. Like the Surface Pro, the Surface Laptop is powered by the Snapdragon X Plus and Elite chipsets, coupled with up to 64GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB Gen 4 SSD internal storage. It also incorporates the new NPU. Remaining specifications mirror those of the business-oriented Surface Laptop 6.
