The Jeep Avenger, the Stellantis brand’s first production EV, made its official debut at the 2022 Paris Motor Show on Monday ahead of a planned 2023 launch.

The Avenger is a subcompact crossover that was first shown in September alongside the larger one Recon and Wagoneer S electric SUVs, both of which are slated to hit dealerships in 2024. Unlike these models, the Avenger has not been confirmed for the United States, as it is primarily aimed at Europe.

Jeep has revealed a few more details about the Avenger for the Paris show. The start of sales in Europe and some Asian markets in 2023 is planned for 2023. The Avenger is just 160.6 inches long, or about 6 inches shorter than the current Jeep Renegade.

This subcompact size likely makes the Avenger unviable for the US. This won’t be the first electrified Jeep model not sold in the brand’s home market. Europe received Renegade 4xe and Compass 4xe plug-in hybrids, but they remain unavailable in the US

The Avenger rides on the Stellantis CMP modular platform, which is designed to support both electric and internal powertrains. Jeep has confirmed that gas-powered Avengers vehicles will be offered in select markets.

The CMP platform is already present in crossovers such as the European DS 3 Crossback and the Opel Mokka, both of which offer internal combustion engines and all-electric transmissions.

Power is provided by a single electric motor that delivers 156 hp. front wheels only. The 54kWh battery provides an estimated range of more than 200 miles (as measured in the European WLTP test cycle) and can be charged from 20% to 80% in 24 minutes via DC fast charging, Jeep claims.

Despite being front-wheel drive, the Avenger still has some off-road attributes, such as a respectable eight inches of ground clearance, hill descent control and Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system, which adapts the car’s systems to different surfaces.

The Avenger also gets the expected suite of infotainment features, including Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and an available 10.3-inch touchscreen (7.0-inch standard), along with driver aids such as automatic emergency braking and an assist function on the highway, which combines adaptive cruise control and active lane control.

Planned to be built in Tychy, Poland, the Avenger will help Jeep achieve its goal a full line of electric cars by 2025— if you think globally. Stelantis’ father promised 25 electric cars headed to the US by 2030.
