In an incredible showcase of speed, delivered the fastest motorcycle in drag racing history on Saturday at Virginia Motorsport Park, making a historic run on Top Fuel motorcycles during the Virginia NHRA Nationals national competition over the weekend.
McBride’s impressive explosion at 268.38 mph gave him the fastest two-wheeler pass in the history of drag racing, beating the 265.95 mark he set last November. McBride ran 5.61 seconds – just ashamed of his fastest run of all time – at the Top Fuel Motorcycle show at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series in Virginia, also breaking the speed record on his home track.
“Being able to do it here at home was incredible,” said McBride, who lives in Paquason, Virginia. – I was treated like a king. It was amazing that all the guys from Top Fuel cars and the Funny Car guys who helped me and all the support I got. The bike settled in a bit, and I had to press the pedals a little bit – you know, just grabbed the rear brake – to get it hooked back, and, boy, really ran a good rear half. I knew it was going awfully fast. I didn’t really understand that 268 had passed, but I knew it was very fast. “
McBride’s massive race since Saturday has been the subject of conversation over the weekend, starting with a huge fanfare on the track after a record pass. His impressive hit in the record books has also turned into an exciting hit online, and the run has already garnered more than 1.5 million views on NHRA social media in less than 48 hours. A longtime ambassador for sports, McBride was delighted with the achievements and the light he was able to sanctify the sport.
“It was an honor to be here and support the NHRA because I’m a big fan of drag racing, you know, right down to the athletes,” McBride said. “I just want to do everything I can for drag racing. We got a lot of help from people, a lot of people who came in to help us a little bit so we could do the show that brought us here. ”
McBride believes that there is still a lot left in Top Fuel Motorcycle, and “Spider-Man” quickly confirmed that he is sure that acceleration of 270 miles per hour is possible.
“Absolutely,” McBride said. “If I hadn’t had to pedal on that run, it would have been 270 on that pass. «
As for the key to the historic run, McBride kept it simple.
“Hold on. Hold low. The throttle is running both ways,” McBride said.
