It’s a virtual world these days, and it seems every year car shows are less and less interesting to automakers, but SEMA is a notable exception. The aftermarket show is a great place for car companies to showcase their products in a new way, and Lexus is going to do just that with these six unique builds for SEMA 2022. The creations vary in purpose and style, from the 600 hp Lexus IS concept. with powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 to the GX460 concept built for serious overland travel. Not Your Neighborhood IS350: The Dsport IS600+
The IS600+ concept is based on the IS350 F Sport, but now puts out more than 600 horsepower through a 3.5-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine taken from the LS500. Or at least it will when fueled with E85.
A custom four-point roll cage was integrated to stiffen the chassis as well as provide upgraded KW coilovers. RC F-sourced carbon-ceramic brakes were added, while the rear seats were removed and the hood and trunk replaced with Seibon carbon versions.
The front seats were replaced with Sparco seats and belts to save weight and provide a more secure connection to the car.
Pavement Queen: LX600 Urban Concept
Created by Annex Marketing to fill the evergreen market of people who live in cities but want an off-road vehicle simply in case. We understand. We were those people too. This particular LX600 has a body kit and exhaust system from Artisan Spirits. Braking comes from an eight-piston Brembo front caliper, while the Satin Bronze HRE is shod in a set of 285/40R-24 Proxes ST III all-season tires.
Bigfoot Hunter: The LX600 Alpine Lifestyle Concept
Did Lexus collaborate with the Abominable Snowman? Not at all. He did team up with Hiraku to add things like the 10-gauge Modular Dissent Off-Road Body Armor System, carbon fenders, and Rigid Industries lighting, among other things. Lexus also teamed up with outdoor brand Yeti to add merchandise including the LoadOut GoBox, Tundra coolers and Trailhead chairs (pictured above). We would love one of these for our next bigfoot hunting expedition.
Built by Cruiser Outfitters and based on the 2022 GX460 Blackline Edition, the GX460 Overland Concept is ready to challenge the unknown. The Overland concept features a Warn self-healing winch and a set of 275/65R-18 Toyo Open Country MT tires, which should be enough to get you out of most tricky situations. A 40-inch Rigid Radiance light bar casts light from the top of the car, while a 20-inch bar shines from the grille. The skid plates, roof rack and swingarm guard are all from CBI Offroad, while the suspension has been upgraded by Old Man Emu to increase ground clearance and accommodate the weight of the gear.
Serious congestion requires serious storage solutions. The GX460 has that covered. The roof rack provides space for a tent on the roof as well as a small amount of additional storage space. What doesn’t fit at the top will find its way into the Goose Gear drawers or somewhere between the ARB Air Compressor, Traction Boards, Recovery Equipment, Air Down and Fridge/Freezer. Not to mention the Kaon kitchen system built into the rear of the Overland concept, complete with drop-down table and cookware.
Purple Metallic: RX500h F Sport
What really makes this SEMA car stand out is the Matte Violet Metallic trim, which Lexus calls “eye-catching” in its understated appeal. The RX for SEMA also gets 22-inch Rays wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The RX500h F Sport is the top performance model the 2023 RX lineup discovered earlier this year.
Anticipating the future: Lexus Electrified Sport
The Lexus Electrified Sport is SEMA’s concept that foreshadows the future. Created by California design outpost Calty, the electric Lexus is envisioned (possibly) with solid-state batteries, a range of 430 miles, and the ability to hit 60 mph in the “low two-second range.” It looks good too.
