Lithia Motors Inc. has hired former Aston Martin Americas and Mercedes-Benz USA executive Adam Chamberlain as regional operating president for the growing automaker’s East region.

Chamberlain’s arrival in Lithia was only a few weeks away following his retirement as president of Aston Martin’s Americas region was announced. Chamberlain has joined the British ultra-luxury brand in mid-November 2021.

Chamberlain was previously vice president of sales and product management for Mercedes-Benz USA. He was named an Automotive news Rising star in 2017.

Lithia said on Tuesday that Chamberlain is responsible for overseeing its operations teams in the eastern region, as well as supporting network development.

“Adam has over 25 years in the automotive world and brings a deep understanding of national and international markets,” Lithia CEO Brian DeBoer said in a statement. “Adam’s proactive and collaborative leadership combined with a keen passion for store operations will be a great fit with our regional presidents. His passion and understanding of our industry and the full lifecycle of customer vehicles will be a key enabler of our organization’s multi-channel global growth and the achievement of our 2025 Plan.”

Based in Atlanta, Chamberlain will report to Lithia’s COO Chris Holzsch.

Lithia, of Medford, Ore., was ranked No. 2 Automotive newsthe latest list of the top 150 dealer groupsretailing 260,738 new cars in 2021. But Lithia manages to take the top spot, which has long been held by AutoNation Inc. For the first nine months of 2022, Lithia outpaced AutoNation by 33,540 new vehicle sales, although a small number of Lithia’s numbers include sales in Canada.
