Last month, a new business combination between Harley-Davidson Inc. was approved. and AEA-Bridges Impact Corp., a private equity firm focused on sustainability. On the same day, LiveWire announced that it is opening reservations for the production version of the S2 Del Mar all-electric motorcycle, the first LiveWire model to feature the new Arrow architecture and the second to join the lineup alongside the company’s flagship LiveWire ONE. electric motorcycle.
Jochen Zeitz, who is chairman, president and CEO of Harley-Davidson and chairman and CEO of LiveWire, said the merger of the two companies represents a “proud and exciting milestone for LiveWire in its ambition to become the most desired electric motorcycle brand in the world.”

According to a press release announcing the opening of bookings for the S2 Del Mar, key performance figures for the bike include an expected 80 hp, 184 lb-ft of torque, a 75-minute charge time from 20% to 80% with level 2 charging, and 431 pounds of weight, providing acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. Those specs are better than those sent out in May, when the company only said “less than 440 pounds” for weight and a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds.

The Del Mar’s claimed city driving range has also been increased by 100-110 miles. A press release said range estimates are based on “expected performance from a fully charged battery and are derived from SAE J2982 test procedure data on a sample motorcycle under ideal laboratory conditions.” Actual range is likely to vary depending on many factors, including personal driving habits, road and driving conditions, weather, vehicle condition and maintenance, tire pressure, vehicle configuration (parts and accessories) and vehicle loading (cargo, passenger and passenger weight).
The stock S2 Del Mar debuts with an MSRP of $16,999 in three colors: Pacific Grey, Nightfall Blue and Asphalt Black. Delivery of the production version is planned after the Launch Edition, with an expected schedule of Spring 2023. Priority delivery will be given to customers with confirmed reservations that can be made now online.
All LiveWire S2 Del Mar motorcycles will be assembled at Harley-Davidson Vehicle Operations in York, Pennsylvania.
