Since its launch in 2000, the Maruti Alto hatchback has been the longest-running model in the Indian market. The new generation Alto K10, which has been evolving for the past 22 years, hopes to remain a favorite in the entry-level segment.
Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the new-generation Alto K10 in India tomorrow, August 18. The new Alto K10 will be the sixth major launch for the automaker this year and the smallest of them all. First launched 22 years ago, Maruti has sold over 40 lakh units of the popular hatchback in the last two decades. In fact, no other car in India sells more than Altwhich establishes the hatchback’s legacy in an era when small cars formed the backbone of the Indian automobile industry.
At a time when the small car segment is starting to lose its hold as the leading passenger car segment due to the rise of SUVs, the new Alto K10 is likely to prove more challenging than ever before. However, Maruti Suzuki’s confidence to continue manufacturing one of its oldest car models comes from its sales figures. The Alto K10 continues to be one of the best selling cars in India.
The new generation Alto K10 will be launched in a new avatar, trying to meet the expectations of new customers who are looking for more features, improved driving dynamics and safety.
