Mercedes-AMG introduces the all-electric Vision AMG concept car

The transmission of the Mercedes Vision AMG concept electric car was developed from scratch.

The all-electric Mercedes Vision AMG concept car is presented. Mercedes-AMG reports that the Vision AMG presentation is a vision of the all-electric future of AMG Driving Performance. The Vision AMG concept electric car is a four-door coupe-based AMG.EA platform currently being developed in Affalterbach for fully electric performance models, the automaker said.

The Mercedes-AMG Vision concept electric car has a smooth monolithic structure with a minimum of joints and closed lines. To reinforce the monolithic look, Mercedes-AMG painted the rear and side windows in the same silver Alubeam as the car itself. The automaker has developed a sequence of sporty proportions that are visible from the side. The concept electric car sits on a long wheelbase, and its advanced rack is located far ahead. The short front overhang is a bit longer, and the rear – optimized aerodynamically.

The front grille of the AMG EV Vision concept has distinctive vertical stripes, however the grille has been closed, painted in body color and fully integrated into the front. These illuminated vertical stripes with a three-dimensional outer contour accompany the three-pointed star, which was placed on the hood, similar to the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE.

The Vision AMG transmission was developed from scratch. The AMG.EA platform comes with a high-performance high-voltage battery and revolutionary drive technology, says Mercedes-AMG. A distinctive feature of the Vision AMG transmission system is its Axial Flux Motor, developed by a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz YASA. Due to its compact and lightweight design, it provides much more power than conventional electric motors, the brand adds.

Mercedes-AMG GmbH CEO Philipp Schimmer shares that AMG is in the process of transformation. “The course has been well and really set for an electrified future and we have set a high bar. This is because our customers expect something special from fully electric cars. We have already well and truly proven our expertise in this regard with the AMS SLS electric drive, our own hybrid E PERFORMANCE technology and the first Mercedes-EQ derivatives. With this study, we now offer a first look at how we are transferring AMG DNA into a fully electric future, starting in 2025, ”adds Schimmer.
