Mercedes-Benz R&D India is incubating an end-to-end charging aggregator for electric vehicles

Mercedes-Benz Research & Development India (MBRDI) has announced Evnnovator, a startup that aims to transform the electric vehicle industry by providing end-users with an end-to-end electric vehicle charging experience.

Evnnovator aims to make electric vehicle charging simple and convenient, enabling the widespread adoption of sustainable e-mobility. Created by a former MBRDI employee, Evnnovator offers its users all three options of finding, charging and paying at a charging station through the FICH mobile app.

Reinforcing its commitment to fostering innovative thinking, MBRDI supported an employee-turned-entrepreneur idea to explore the electric vehicle industry. The employee subsequently founded Evnnovator, a startup that aims to transform the electric vehicle industry by providing end-users with an end-to-end electric vehicle charging experience.

India is making rapid progress in the electric vehicle sector and recognizes the importance of accessible charging infrastructure to ensure a sustainable electric vehicle environment. However, according to a recent research, India needs up to 46,000 public charging stations by 2030, which is far more than what is currently available in public infrastructure. Access to charging stations is a major obstacle to the widespread use of electric vehicles. Evnnovator is designed to help electric vehicle users get rid of range anxiety by providing access to an extensive network of charging stations.

Commenting on the development, Manu Zaale, Managing Director and CEO, MBRDI, said, “The e-mobility sector in India is categorized by supply-side availability of electric vehicles and demand-side adoption trends. Adequate charging infrastructure is one of the prerequisites for the adoption of electric vehicles. Therefore, charging stations and their availability are important for the sustainable operation of these vehicles. We’re excited to see the change that Evnnovator will bring, removing range anxiety and making EV charging easy and convenient for all end users.”

Evnnovator is a multi-brand enterprise that any electric vehicle customer can use to locate charging stations in cities or on highways. The company’s FICH (Find Charger) application will allow the end user to find the nearest compatible and available charging stations for electric vehicles by collecting data from several charging point operators.

Starting in October 2022, this app will be available on iOS and Android devices. Evnnovator will also be supported by Carge Zone, a company focused on electric vehicle charging infrastructure technology.
