General Motors recalled nearly 500,000 vehicles Models of SUVs from Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC brands.
The vehicle manufacturer has discovered that some vehicles have rivets that hold the buckle on the left or right side third row seat belt buckle mounting bracket that may have been improperly formed during the manufacturing process.
A recall notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicates that the third-row seat belt may not properly restrain occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. GM says the problem may have been caused by operators at the supplier’s plant not following proper manufacturing processes and inadvertently skipping a rivet forming operation.

GM first became aware of the potential problem when a GM district service manager reported on May 18, 2022 that a customer’s 2021 third-row seat belt buckle assembly. Chevrolet Suburban separated. Analysis of GM field data identified seven additional reports potentially associated with this disease.
A total of 41,636 2021 and 2022 model year Cadillac Escalade models manufactured between March 16, 2020 and May 27, 2022 are involved in the recall. The recall also affects 25,158 Cadillac Escalade ESV models manufactured between June 24, 2020 and May 27, 2020. , 2022, at least 84,338 Chevrolet Suburban vehicles manufactured from January 6, 2020 to May 27, 2022, 176,981 Chevrolet Tahoe models manufactured from November 11, 2019 to May 27, 2022, 97,436 GMC Yukon models manufactured between November 12, 2019 and May 27, 2022 and a total of 58,606 GMC Yukon XL models manufactured between January 6, 2020 and May 27, 2022.
GM will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning September 26 and instruct dealers to inspect the structure of the rivet head and replace the seat belt buckle assemblies if necessary.
