Factor is best known for its performance-oriented road bikes, which have been raced by Chris Froome, Darryl Impey and Giacomo Nizzola for the Israel Premier Tech team. However, the British brand’s engineers have taken some of their underdog achievements and small gains to the dirt with the Ostro Gravel.

Based on feedback from the North American gravel racing team, Factor believes that as gravel racing speeds continue to increase, improved aerodynamics could make the difference in the 200-mile race. While in the past these aero improvements have usually been associated with some compromise in compliance or tire clearance, Factor boasts some impressive frame specs such as 45mm tire clearance and intelligent handling.

Factor experimented with different head tube angles, but determined that a steeper angle (greater than 70 degrees) prevented front wheel wobble. The 54cm frame has a 72.2 degree head tube angle paired with a 101.4cm wheelbase.

Factor claims a frame weight of 900 grams and offers an impressive array of premium parts. It includes the frame, fork, seat post, post, CeramicSpeed BB and CeramicSpeed Headset. White and black are superseded by a special Factor paint program that offers premium upgrades.

We will be riding the Ostro Gravel over the next few weeks and will continue to develop our review. Ostro Gravel is available worldwide online and at authorized Factor dealers beginning in late September 2022. They are also available at all Factor Experience Centers in the United States:

– Cadence Cyclery, Dallas
– ACME, Brooklyn
– Roberio Cycling Laboratory, Miami
– Velotown, San Diego
