Nvidia GeForce Now may appear on more devices in the future if there is enough interest from gamers, including the Nintendo Switch.
In a future interview with TechRadar Gaming, GeForce Now vice president and general manager Phil Eisler did not rule out the possibility that the game streaming service may appear on other platforms in the future, but it all depends on demand.
“Based on members’ requests, we have started supporting smart TVs since the last LG TV models in December 2021, ”Eisler said. “On CES in January we announced that we were working with Samsung to bring GeForce Now to its Smart TV by adding a service to the Samsung Gaming Hub. We continue to evaluate other tools that interest our participants. ”
We recently saw that Nintendo is relying more on cloud games to bring more graphics-rich titles such as A Plague Tale: Innocence, Hitman 3 and Kingdom of Hearts on the console. The way cloud games work on the Switch still requires the user to pay the usual purchase price for the game, so if Nintendo can’t get a share of the revenue, we won’t be surprised if GeForce Now doesn’t enroll at all.
However, Nvidia and Nintendo have an existing relationship that should at least keep the door open. The switch is based on the non-standard Nvidia Tegra X1 processor and is the only console on the market that has not chosen Nvidia’s competitor, AMD. It is likely that if we see a more powerful switch in the future, Nintendo will again choose to partner with Nvidia, especially if it plans to make the console’s successor backwards compatible.
