“Brandon is one of those guys that if you don’t know him, he’s pretty quiet, very humble. He is hardworking and has been rallying for a long time, and few people know about it.
“We held a rally in Canada and Antoine L’Estage was there. And Antoine says, “Dude, that guy’s driving.” I think it was like the Crosstrek, and it was such a big vehicle, and it was still racing me and L’Estage and everybody else on the downhill stages.
“I say that a person. This guy is going for it,” and you know what, it was his own money and then, you know, Red Bull Canada and Subaru Canada helped him out a little bit. But this is a guy who’s been doing it part-time for six or seven years.”
So how did Semenyuk go from being a Canadian rally enthusiast to becoming the first Canadian to win the US Rally Championship since L’Estauge himself in 2010?
