Porsche is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1972 911 Carrera RS 2.7 with an exterior package that reincarnates some of the model’s defining styling cues into the modern era. A preview of the concept presented at The Quail, a Motor sports As such, the aptly named Tribute to Carrera RS package has been developed exclusively for the US market and will be available for a limited time in the not too distant future.
For now limited edition 911 Sport Classic introduced in 2022, paying subtle homage to the RS 2.7, the Tribute to Carrera RS package adds a lot more DNA to the 50-year-old coupe the new 911 GT3 RS. It includes a non-metallic shade of white and green python accents on the bumpers, over the rockers and on the rear wing. Buyers could order the RS 2.7 from many color combinations, but there is white and green one of the liveries which is most often associated with the model. Green and white forged aluminum wheels add the finishing touch to the look.
Porsche also added white headlight accents (a feature not currently offered on the options list), exclusive design taillights and “RS” logos on either end of the rear wing. The heritage-inspired design is softened in the cabin, where the package includes green contrast stitching, white inserts in the seat backs and on the dashboard, green paint on the roll bars and special door sill plates.
What you see in our gallery is not necessarily what you will get when the Tribute to Carrera RS package goes on sale. “This is a live project in the early stages, and it’s being built by enthusiasts for enthusiasts,” explained Kjell Gruner, head of Porsche’s North American division. He added that the limited-availability package will be offered exclusively in the United States and that more details will be released soon.
