Protecting data in the cloud requires companies to protect the data itself, as well as protect against cyber attacks, credential theft, and more.
Security specialist StratoKey (opens in a new tab) announces what it calls “the second generation.” cloud (opens in a new tab) protection using behavioral analytics related to defensive countermeasures as part of an upgrade to the core StratoKey Cloud Access and Security Broker (CASB) platform.
This allows organizations to build behavioral analytics profiles that track specific user-level metrics. These profiles are then tied to the StratoKey counter mechanism. If the metrics in the behavioral profiles are exceeded, StratoKey automatically takes countermeasures to prevent the threat from progressing.

“Cloud encryption gateways started life as dumb gateways that let users through as long as they entered the appropriate authentication credentials,” says Anthony Scotney, founder and CEO of StratoKey. “The second generation of cloud encryption gateways (now known as Cloud Access Security Brokers) is defined not only by encryption, but also by behavioral analysis, monitoring and countermeasures in a single solution that is flexible enough to support all of an organization’s cloud applications.”
Key features of the CASB platform include selective in-app encryption, identity (opens in a new tab) aware authentication and cloud visibility through real-time monitoring and analytics. It also offers cloud- and SaaS-agnostic behavioral analysis and anomaly detection. It meets HIPAA encryption requirements as well as access control guidelines, including implementation details.
