Rings of Power season 2 may deal with the creation of the One Ring

Full “Rings of Power” Episode 8 spoilers follow.

Rings of power cast talked about how creating the title rings will affect their characters in Season 2.

Speaking exclusively to TechRadar ahead Rings of power 8 seriesMorfydd Clarke, who plays Galadriel, revealed that the elf warrior’s hand is in their forge, and the consequences Rings of power season 1 finaleevents will leave an unforgettable impression on her. So much so, in fact, that Galadriel may begin to exhibit the traits and abilities that Lord of the Rings fans have come to expect from the ethereal being we see in the Third Age of Middle-earth.

Before Galadriel becomes the powerful, all-seeing elf we saw in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, she has more obstacles to overcome. Namely, owning a ring called Nenya and the responsibility that comes with keeping it safe, and accepting the key role that her brother Finrod’s dagger played in their creation.

“I’m looking forward to exploring how she gains power from having the ring without feeling powerful herself,” Clarke tells TechRadar. “And what duality is is very interesting.

“Throughout Season 1, we saw how the elf part of Galadriel’s spirit just existed. It is not associated with any part of Elvenism except Finrod’s dagger. It wasn’t healthy, it wasn’t good for her, and she became just as much of a memory as her brother. So I was grateful that she was free of that.

“She feels a lot of sadness in letting it go, but there’s also a freedom in that moment. She also does it to save her people – she has made big mistakes, but she still has to save a lot of people. She is now returning to her elvenness, and being around them again will eventually lead to her becoming the more secretive, Lothlarien elf we see in the Third Epic.

What about the real maker of the rings, aka Celebrimbor? The elven smith plays a major role in forging them in J’s source material. RR Tolkien and the application budget Prime Video series. How will he feel then, having made a trio of powerful ornaments? And given who Celebrimbor’s ancestors are, will the creation of the elven rings help fulfill a long-held desire to eclipse what his ancestors forged?

“My guess is that after the performance, he’ll start going downhill,” Charles Edwards, who plays Celebrimbar, tells TechRadar. “He made the rings. Now he has to wait and see what they do. Will they have the desired effect [to save the elves]? In any case, Celebrimbor will not want to leave his workshop. He has a lot of other work. I think Halbrand piqued his interest and ignited something in Celebrimbor. Being a creative person, you go with it and see where it takes you.

“Obviously it wasn’t explicitly stated that he was Fëanor’s grandson. He has Feanor’s hammer, but he doesn’t refer to it in a familial sense. So there is a battle between trying to improve your grandfather. Celebrimbor lives his very long life. shadow and tried to surpass it. I think the creation of the rings does that, but there’s a lot more paint to do with his character in Season 2.”

Halbrand – or, more accurately, Sauron – had a hand in shaping the rings. (Image: Prime Video)

Speaking of Halbrand – or rather Sauron, as we learn in Episode 8 Prime Video show – unwittingly has a role in their creation. Although he is clearly not involved in forging them, it is Sauron’s idea to combine mithril with other metals and then create two items instead of one, leading to the creation of the first of the titular rings.

For Charlie Vickers, who plays Halbrand/Sauron on Amazon’s Lord of the Rings, the forging of the iconic jewels — and Sauron’s involvement in it — ultimately sets the Dark Lord on a path to understanding how he can “heal” Middle-earth.

“Their creation is similar to what we see in Tolkien’s stories,” says Vickers. “They are made under his influence and direction, but he does not make them directly. They were made regardless of his physical touch. So even though they are susceptible to the One Ring, they can’t be controlled Eventually he makes the One Ring. As soon as he puts this ring on, the elves immediately know that he created the ring due to his influence on their ringsmithing.

So, can we expect to see the legendary One Ring forged in the fire of Mount Doom in Season 2? Vickers doesn’t confirm anything, but it seems possible.

“When Sauron comes down that cliff into Mordor, he has a plan,” Vickers teases. “He is always 5-10 moves ahead on the chessboard. Now we will really see his true character. The showrunner has a very specific plan, some of which I know now. We will really see him turn into that character who is always thinking ahead. We’ve seen it before, but it’s going to be very vivid in Season 2.”
