Rolls-Royce on Friday unveiled the second of three Boat Tail convertibles, part of the UK’s ultra-luxury carmakers returning to rebuilding.

The Boat Tails are a product Rolls-Royce Coachbuild department, and demonstrated to the public to demonstrate the capabilities of the division. Three cars are built for individual customers who approached Rolls after seeing Svephvost disposable opened in 2017.

In keeping with the proper tradition of car building, each Boat Tail body is made by hand from aluminum sheets. According to Rawls, the design was inspired by early 20th century racing yachts. The automaker has not provided any technical details, but Boat Tails is probably based on the previous generation Rolls platform, rather than the aluminum space frame currently in use. The customer, who ordered the second Boat Tail, has a family history in the pearl industry and has given designers four gems to inspire for exterior color, Rolls reports. The automaker describes it as “a brilliant blend of oysters and soft roses with large white and bronze mica scales that add a unique pearlescent quality”.

The chosen color contrasts with the cognac-colored hood with bronze and gold aluminum flakes, as well as the crystal and icy matte sheer coat. The traditional Pantheon grille and the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament are decorated in rose gold.

As with the first tail of the boat Presented in 2021, this car has a rear deck with a matching marine wooden finish. In this case, the customer chose Royal Walnut with rose gold. Two halves of the deck open to reveal what Rawls calls a “hosting suite”. Basically it’s a trunk that houses a fridge, flutes for champagne and other items for an exquisite roadside picnic.

The interior also used Royal Walnut veneer, which also features cognac and oyster skin, as well as details of rose gold and mother of pearl. A mother-of-pearl watch from the customer’s collection is mounted on the dashboard.

The second Rolls-Royce Boat Tail will be officially unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2022, scheduled for May 21st. This is about a year after the first Boat Tail was introduced, so we’ll probably see the third and final example of these land yachts a year later.

The gentleman won’t ask the price for the Boat Tail, and Rolls-Royce won’t say. However, it was estimated that the first of the three cost as much as $ 14.5 million. Apparently, the pearl industry is quite lucrative.
