The robot dog nicknamed Spot is now equipped with five stereo cameras all over the body that provide full color images. Color integration gives the operator a complete overview of colors through cameras. This technological advancement offers the operator the ability to more easily decipher the robot’s operating environment using a Scout remote control or tablet.
Boston Dynamics claims that the tablet, integrated with smart features, has become the biggest upgrade for the robot dog. It can be used to control a robot or for autonomous missions. Speaking of the technologically improved fast charger, the developer claims that it has become smarter and offers even faster charging of the robot battery than before. It takes only an hour to fully charge the battery. In addition, the battery of the robot dog can be easily and quickly swapped, according to the developer.
Since the acquisition of Boston Dynamics in 2020. Hyundai used this robot dog in different ways. At Kia’s South Korean plant, one of them has been operating at the plant since September 2021. The robot dog at the Kia plant operates as a security service robot. It can detect the movement of people, high temperatures and fire hazards, as well as check whether doors are closed or open.
Large car companies around the world use robots for a variety of operations. Hyundai’s Spot is one such example. Ford also developed a similar robot to work in the factory.
