Five U.S. Democratic senators have asked 22 trucking and logistics companies and six Class 1 railroads to disclose data on firearms supplies due to concerns that security loopholes are contributing to rising gun violence.

“For these reasons, we are concerned about this [carriers] do not take the necessary steps to protect the supply of firearms and take part in resolving the crisis with the use of weapons that this country is facing. “

- The type of records kept by each company about lost or stolen cargo and firearms packages.
