The Singer company from California presented its version of the convertible Porsche 911-based Turbo research just in time for the car’s US debut Monterey Car Week 2022.

First revealed in June during the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed ​​in the UK, the Turbo Study is the latest member of the growing 964-generation 911 family modified by Singer, this time with a focus on creating something more like the earlier Porsche 930, i.e. the original 911 Turbo produced from 1975 to 1989.

The car proved so popular that Singer suspended new orders for its original modified 911, Classic officeto free up capacity for Turbo Study as well as the last of the 75 builds Dynamics and easy research. We were told that the order books for Classic Study alone are full for the next few years.

Many Turbo Study buyers requested a convertible body instead of the original coupe body. Fortunately for them, Singer obliged.

“Our goal with the Turbo Study is to transform the extreme thrill of Porsche’s first supercar while redefining its performance and refinement,” Rob Dickinson, chairman and founder of Singer, said in a statement. “We are delighted that owners can now enjoy these features without a roof.”

Turbo Study comes standard and sports focus flavors Both come with a 3.8-liter twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine that produces 450 hp. in the standard version and 510 hp. with a sports focus. Mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, the engine is air-cooled but has an air-to-water intercooler. Additional upgrades to the Sport Focus include a lowered suspension, carbon-ceramic brake rotors and carbon fiber seats.

The body is the real star of the Turbo Study. It has the original wide hips of the 930 and a whale tail rear spoiler made here in carbon fiber. Below is the build of the donor 964 generation 911 undergoing a full restoration.

Singer will present the Turbo Study on August 19 at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, one of the main events of Monterey Car Week. Action on the California coast wraps up two days later with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
