• Mazda will paint your 2023 MX-5 Miata a nice beige option called Zircon Sand for just $395.
  • Pricing for the 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata will start at $29,370 when it goes on sale this winter, up slightly from the previous model year.
  • The Miata has long stuck to the simple formula that made it popular in the first place, which it maintains by bringing no other updates for 2023.

Mazda has answered the prayers of those would-be MX-5 Miata owners who balked at the prospect of retribution for owning such a flashy car. The 2023 MX-5 Miata is a crossover model, with the only change to the lineup being a $395 beige paint called Zircon Sand. To be fair, it’s an attractive color and the Miata carries it off well, even if it’s also the color choice for the CX-50 crossover.

There are no other significant changes for the 2023 MX-5. Prices have risen slightly across the lineup, with the base Sport now starting at $29,370, up $655 from last year’s model. That still brings you the gutsy 181 horsepower of the high-revving four-cylinder Miata. It might not seem like much, but the soft-top version hit 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. Our favorite Club trim now starts at $32,870 and offers extras like a limited-slip differential, front strut tower brace and Bilstein shocks. Optional upgrades to the Club with Brembo front brakes, 17-inch BBS forged wheels in Dark Weapon and heated Recaro seats run you an extra $4,500. If you want the hardtop model with the Club, you’ll also need to opt for the BBS Recaro package.

Sitting at the top of the MX-5 food chain, the Grand Touring has risen in price to $34,370, offering more safety and comfort compared to cheaper trims. The Grand Touring gets body-colored heated door mirrors, automatic headlights and rain wipers.
