The Azores Rally has lost its place on the European Rally Championship calendar for 2023 in the first deliberate change to the calendar since the takeover of promoter WRC.

The Azores have been a long-standing European Rally participant, appearing on the continental calendar for two separate periods from 1992 to 2003 and then again from 2013 to the present, being part of the Eurosport Intercontinental Rally Challenge between 2009 and 2012.

But his place in the calendar is lost, the organizer of the rally confirmed, not getting a place in the accounts for 2023.

“The promoter of the FIA European Rally Championship has informed the Organizing Committee of the Azores Rallye that the race is not part of its plans for the 2023 season,” the Azores Rallye organizer said in a statement.
