You know the crowdfunding projects that are phenomenal but ultimately fail Cool cooler or Scully AR-1 helmet gone? An attractive product, killed off due to internal drama, management ineptitude, or over-promising, is sustained by years of regular fan updates until the product either dies or appears on another retail platform under a different brand name at a higher price. The Faraday’s Future FF 91 it’s starting to look like that’s the first part of the equation – we’re just waiting to find out if he lives or dies. Thanks to the EPA, we know Faraday Future’s executive team didn’t promise too much crossover range: EPA rated the FF 91 at 381 miles on a full charge and riding on 22-inch wheels. That’s three miles higher than the company’s listings for pre-order versions at the time of writing.

Lucid Air Dream Edition R with a capacity of 1111 hp. was rated at 520 miles, the Air Dream Edition P at 471 miles, the Air Grand Touring at 516 miles, the Air Pure at 406 miles, but all of these ratings are for sedans with 19-inch wheels.
Back to Faraday, the FF 91 Futurist is the only build with pre-order slots still open. According to the company, it and the limited-edition FF 91 Futurist Alliance use that giant package to power three motors that deliver a combined 1,050 horsepower and are capable of teleporting from a standstill to 60 mph in less than 2.4 seconds. A deposit of $1,500 is all it takes to hold the FF 91 Futurist, a pittance compared to the starting price of around $180,000. The base model, simply called the FF 91, is “coming soon”, its price according to hearsay to cost around $120,000, which probably indicates a much smaller battery.
Again, we’re still waiting to see how the company handles its current challenges. Money needs to be raised to stay in service until the end of the year, and more money is needed to get the FF 91 into production. The goal is to secure enough funds to get the lines up and running by the end of the year. We have a feeling the oddsmakers in Vegas won’t be kind to the company. Still, CEO Carsten Breitfeld said the official EPA number represents “a huge step in getting this car to our users,” and perhaps proof that the engineers know what they’re doing, depending on what is happening with this battery.
