The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is offered with mild and strong hybrid technology and is the technical cousin of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.

Toyota Urban Cruiser is the company’s first mid-size SUV in India.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Wednesday announced the price list of the remaining variants of its latest mid-size SUV, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The base variant – the E with a manual transmission – is priced at 10.48 lakhs, which is slightly more expensive than the corresponding base variant Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Both the Hyryder and the Grand Vitara are technical cousins, and Maruti Suzuki’s SUV was launched on Monday at an introductory price 10.45 lakhs.

Earlier this month, Toyota partially revealed the pricing of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, but has now released the full list. The SUV is offered with both manual and automatic transmissions, and boasts both mild and strong hybrid technology. On Wednesday, the company announced prices for variants with mild hybrid technology.

The price of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder with strong hybrid technology starts from 17.09 lakhs and comes up to 18.99 lakhs. In fact, the Urban Cruiser is better priced than the 19.49 lakh tag that the Grand Vitara Alpha+ variant enjoys.

The Hyryder and Grand Vitara are the result of a collaboration between Toyota and Suzuki. Both vehicles will be manufactured at Toyota’s Bidadi facility in Karnataka. Both models are the first mid-size SUVs on the market to boast powerful hybrid technology that delivers great mileage. Although both cars look different from the outside, the interior layout and key features like the HUD, main infotainment screen, driver display, and surround view camera are identical. Both models are also equipped with a 1.5-liter engine with identical power and torque figures.
