The new Jeep Avenger, the off-road brand’s first production electric vehicle, made its official debut on Monday at the 2022 Paris Motor Show.

Avenger is a subcompact crossover designed primarily for Europe. He was teased in September along with the bigger one Recon and Wagoneer S electric SUVsboth of which will hit Jeep dealerships in 2024, though the Avenger has yet to be confirmed for sale in the US.

The Avenger is confirmed to go on sale in Europe in early 2023, followed by some Asian markets. The car sits below the compact Renegade and may be considered too small for the US market. It’s only 160.6 inches long, or about 6.0 shorter than the Renegade.

The Avenger rides on Jeep parent company Stellantis’ modular CMP platform. The platform is designed for subcompact cars and supports both electric and internal transmissions. Jeep has confirmed that gas-powered Avengers will be offered in select markets.

The CMP platform is also found in crossovers such as DS 3 Crossback and Opel Mokka, both of which also offer electric options. However, the Avenger has a newly developed 400-volt transmission with a single electric motor on the front axle, making this Jeep only front-wheel drive.

The engine creates a maximum power of 156 hp. and draws power from a 54kWh battery that Jeep estimates provides a range of more than 200 miles. According to Jeep, charging from 20-80% capacity can be achieved in about 24 minutes using the fast charger.

Despite being front-wheel drive, the Avenger still benefits from Jeep’s off-road features, such as short overhangs and a high ground clearance (for this class) of nearly 8.0 inches, as well as Hill Descent Control and Selec- Terrain.

The vehicle also comes with an impressive list of features despite being the entry-level model in the Jeep range. All Avengers come with a digital instrument cluster (7.0-inch standard and 10.25-inch available) and 10.25-inch infotainment screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, voice activation, and over-the-air update capability. Electronic driver assistance features will be offered as standard and available, including automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and a highway assist function that can keep the car in a single lane by combining adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.

The Avenger will be manufactured at the Stellantis plant in Tychy, Poland. A a related model of Alfa Romeo perhaps called Brennero and a redesigned Fiat 500X They are rumored to join the Avenger at the Polish plant in the coming years.
