Despite withdrawing its activities from the Russian market after pressure from the sanctions imposed by the United States, Lenovo’s sales laptop and PC devices are still thriving in the country.
A report by analyst firm Marvel said that in the first half of 2022, Lenovo’s computer sales in Russia increased by 3% compared to the same period last year, with 95,000 sake units helping it become the country’s number one supplier in the first half of 2022. .
In second place was HP, which sold 80,000 units, a drop of 93%.

The news is not so gloomy for the Russian company Aquarius, which has experienced a significant sales boom as many other suppliers have decided to leave the market.
In an interview with News (opens in a new tab)the head of Aquarius Uladzimir Stepanov reported that “the company’s revenue [had] increased by 215% [over three quarters of 2022]”, seeing total sales of more than 61,000 units as more buyers are forced to buy domestically.
With Lenovo officially exiting the country in May 2022 and HP soon after in June, it’s likely that their sales will plummet as the second half of 2022 approaches, giving Aquarius and other homegrowns even more of a push.
Marvel analysts explain to “Vedomosti” that predicting the results of the third quarter of 2022 can be difficult, as many factors need to be taken into account. On the one hand, this is a decrease in business activity, and on the other hand, the availability of cheaper video cards.
The consequences of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine are not limited to the sale of equipment. Software companies like Google and Microsoft have also suspended sales in the country, as have payment technologies such as Visa and Mastercard.
