- Nissan dropped the Titan’s 400-horsepower 5.6-liter V-8 into a Frontier pickup truck to create this concept for SEMA.
- The Frontier is only available with the 3.8-liter V-6 from the factory.
- Other modifications to the concept include special shock absorbers, a widened track, different wheels and tires, and NISMO details, including a roof rack and LED lighting.
The era of midsize pickups with V-8s is long gone, but there was a time when you could get Chevy Colorados and Dodge Dakotas with eight cylinders. Nissan revives that idea with this special variant The border for The SEMA show that features full size titan 5.6-liter V-8 along with a host of off-road modifications and NISMO parts.
The V-8, which makes 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque in the Titan, is a major upgrade over the Frontier’s standard 310-horsepower 3.8-liter V-6. And it’s sure to amp up the aural drama, too, thanks to its cat-back exhaust system. A cold air intake from NISMO is also included.
Aside from the engine swap, this concept truck is a Baja-inspired off-road beast with a heavily modified suspension and all sorts of extras from Nissan’s NISMO performance parts department. The track is wider, requiring wider front fenders, and the ride height is raised thanks to coilovers and Bilstein shock absorbers. Nissan also says the rear shock absorbers increase the Frontier’s cargo capacity. The 18-inch wheels are wrapped in mud tires, and there’s a spare tire mounted in the bed.
NISMO supplied the truck rails, roof rack and LED lighting, and Warn supplied the winch. The white, black and red color scheme features numerous sponsor graphics and decals.
While the V-8 engine under the hood likely won’t make it to the production Frontier, some of the parts seen on this concept truck will be sold by NISMO in the near future, and some are prototypes the company is considering offering along the way.
