Google has improved the way Time Insights works calendar application to help you better understand how your time is spent in meetings.
Time Insight, which initially launched in late August 2022, highlights things like the average number of meeting participants and hours spent on calls per week, in the hope that users can better understand their work patterns to more effectively prioritize work.
On initial launch of the tool noted (opens in a new tab), “Due to changes in our work environment in the past year, some people have more meetings and may feel less in control of how they spend their work time. Time Insights can show you this data and help you plan your time better.”

Google now lets users customize their experience with support for event titles and color schemes, which can help employees understand which projects each meeting belongs to.
General availability for Rapid Release domains has already started, however some users may need more than 15 days to access this feature. Planned Release domains (this is the default setting for most accounts) are set to receive the feature starting August 30, 2022.
To create a color label, users will need to navigate to Time breakdown > select By color > click Add a label. Time Insights can be viewed by clicking on Time information in the panel on the left > clicking More understanding.
Google help page (opens in a new tab) has already been updated to include information about the new color-coordinated Time Insights.
Time Insights is currently reserved for subscribers to the company’s top-tier office software on the following plans: Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, and Nonprofits.
Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Enterprise Essentials, Education Fundamentals, Education Standard, the Teaching and Learning Upgrade, Frontline, legacy G Suite Basic and Business, and personal accounts are not yet set to upgrade.
