The DTM will again use a turn 1 that enters the three-oval after a positive reaction from both fans and drivers last year.

The speed left-hander replaces the complex sequence of turns with slow and medium speeds, increasing the average speed of the track and potentially creating more opportunities for overtaking.

Lamborghini driver Mirko Bartalotti is heading to Lausitzring as the championship leader after taking the subversive podiums in Partimao earlier this month. The Italian is seven points behind Audi rival Nick Mueller, who won the second race at the start of the season.

Third place in the standings is occupied by Mercedes man Lucas Auer, the winner of the opening match in Partimao, and Felipe Fraga from Red Bull and Audi driver Kelvin van der Linde were tied in points in fourth place.
