Two engines will be offered: the 3.5-liter supercharged V-6, which uses the same base engine as the Evora, but now a maximum of 400 horsepower and 310 lb-ft, or 317 lb-ft if equipped with automation. The 2.0-liter entry-level four-cylinder AMG turbocharged engine with 360 horsepower will be launched in 2023.

Emira uses a new version of the Lotus aluminum platform with narrower sills and wider doorways to improve cabin access compared to the tight-fitting Evora. Unlike the Evora, the Emira is a double, although there is still room for luggage between the seats and the rear firewall.

At least three transmission options will be available in the range. The V-6 can be equipped with a standard six-speed mechanical or automatic six-speed torque converter. The four-cylinder AMG engine will only be available with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Lotus has deliberately minimized the use of active systems to reduce complexity and weight. Emira has no active shock absorbers or a torque-shifting differential.

The prototype we rode was in European specifications and had a softer optional Tour chassis – a harder Sport will also be offered as an option. It was equipped with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, and Lotus will also offer a Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire variant with a slope to the track.

The Emira’s interior is much more chic than any previous Lotus, with soft-touch surfaces, digital tools and a central 10.3-inch touchscreen

Lotus claims that the V-6 version weighs 3152 pounds and that the V-6 with manual equipment accelerates to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph.

The fully loaded First Edition V-6 will cost $ 96,100, shipments to the US will begin later this year. The base car with an AMG engine will be available in 2023 at a starting price of $ 77,100
