Vitesco Technologies will supply its EMR4 drive for the Hyundai Motor Group B / C-segment global electric vehicle.
Continental Vitesco Technologies says it has signed a € 2 billion contract to supply its Hyundai Motor Group’s EMR4 (electronic gearbox) drive.
The 400 V / 160 kW 3-in-1 unit will be used by Hyundai Motor Group in its global B / C-segment electric vehicle.
Andreas Wolf, CEO of Vitesco Technologies, said: “We are proud to be contributing to the future platform for Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicles with this very attractive axle drive. This procedure reaffirms our strategy with a very early focus on electric mobility. ”
Power transmission is a major component of an electric car, as it greatly affects its range and enjoyment
Vitesco says its development team has managed to make the EMR4 platform even more efficient and powerful than EMR3, and claims that silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors in the drive platform inverter have played a significant role in this.
The company also says that the new axle drive design maintains a high level of scalability and that complete car platforms as well as different car segments can only be equipped with a single drive system. This is said to have been achieved by applying a “consistently modular approach with well-defined interfaces and a design philosophy for production”.
