Fully electric Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV and Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV models will be unveiled on October 16th at 2pm EST, and you can watch them debut right here.

The EQE The SUV has been in development for quite some time and has been described as a “multi-purpose variant of the flagship EQE.” Or, if you prefer, the GLE for the Electrification Era.

While the German automaker itself hasn’t revealed much about the EQE SUV beyond a preview of its interior, spy shots from March showed the car without camouflage. As we’d expect, and as the name suggests, it looks like what you’d expect the SUV variant of the EQE sedan to look like – the taller version with the sunroof and Merc branding uses a soapy aesthetic.

Key design details seen on this prototype included a fully enclosed grille, pivoting headlights and vertical air curtains on the outer edges of the front bumper. We also know that the EQE SUV will feature flush door handles and an angular rear window nestled under a slim spoiler. Full-width LED taillights will also be standard on all EQE SUV models.

The interior of EQE SUV in many respects identical to the sedan. Therefore, it will be available with the massive MBUX Hyperscreen, which contains three large screens under one piece of glass. It also features the same “floating transmission tunnel” as the sedan and will be available in five different color themes.

Powertrain options should be identical to the EQE sedan. Entry-level models should be equipped with a 90 kWh battery pack and a rear-mounted 288 hp electric motor. Mercedes-Benz is also believed to offer a dual-engine all-wheel drive option and at least two AMG-badged models. It’s unclear which AMG variant will debut on October 16, but one variant believed to be on the cards is the 617 hp EQE 53 4MATIC+. and 701 lb-ft (950 Nm).
