Cadillac has unveiled the CELESTIQ electric vehicle (EV), an ultra-luxury ride poised to become the brand’s new electric flagship.

The 2024 Cadillac CELESTIQ is a four-door battery electric vehicle that will be custom built for each customer, with a suggested retail price of “north of $300,000” and increasing as each unit is customized. Being the brand’s self-proclaimed “World Standard” relaunch, this means it brings together all the sleek design, rich equipment and high-tech essentials to set a new benchmark for the automaker.

And, according to Cadillac, no two models will be alike, as potential buyers will work directly with their dealer and Cadillac designers to create their very own CELESTIQ dream car. Each one will be hand-built, another reminder of the automaker’s bodybuilding days gone by. That said, each unit will share at least one component: GM’s Ultium platform, designed for the brand’s electric future.

This means the CELESTIQ will come complete with a 111 kilowatt-hour battery powered by two electric motors for all-wheel drive. The system is currently rated at 600 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque, giving it a range of over 300 miles on a full charge. The 0-60mph time is expected to be 3.8 seconds – plenty quick, as is the onboard 200kW DC fast charging system capable of recouping 78mph in 10 minutes. Adaptive air suspension, active rear steering and the Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 system will allow CELESTIQ to float on the highway.

The design is bold, taking pieces from the Cadillac lineage and updating them to the present in a sleek fastback profile. The front grille has vertical zippers similar to what we experienced in the LYRIQ Electric Utility. All exterior metal is authentic, from the aluminum grille and brushed body sides to the rocker arms and light fixture trim. There are no doorknobs for one (or their chauffeur) to grab onto; each door is controlled electronically by push buttons.

The large glass roof uses “suspended particle device technology” to limit the amount of light that passes into the cabin, working in tandem with the ambient lighting systems to create a unique sensory experience. As flamboyant as it all is, CELESTIQ boasts a relatively minimalist vibe; however, the technology is by no means minimal, headlined by a 55-inch column-to-column display that uses two separate screens under a single pane of glass. The “Digital Blinds Active Privacy” system will darken the passenger’s screen from the driver’s field of vision. Not enough? There’s an 11-inch touchscreen up front on the center console and an 8-inch display in the back for second-row passengers, who can also use 12.6-inch screens mounted on the front seatbacks.

The 2024 Cadillac CELESTIQ serves as another stepping stone toward the automaker’s goal of going all-electric by 2030, albeit a rather expensive one. Production is expected to begin in December 2023. This is just a small preview of what CALESTIQ brings to the table, and we can’t wait to share more with you. Motorcycle week!
