Only when you return, you realize how much was missing in special places. The global spread of the Covid pandemic has destroyed our enjoyment, excitement and in many cases the utter amazement of watching world-class performers in legendary venues. Music at Glastonbury, tennis at Wimbledon, football at Camp Nou, Wembley or San Siro, Formula 1 at Monaco, Indy Cars at Indianapolis and road racing on the Isle of Man all disappeared overnight. Their return did so much to lift everyone’s spirits and make everyone realize how much we missed them. Phillip Island is next to them. On Sunday, the Aussie circuit, sitting high above that devastating surf, put on the show we’ve been waiting three long, agonizing years to explode before our eyes. We knew the Island wouldn’t let us down, and it didn’t.
