At the 2022 Annual Meeting of the Automotive Sales Council (ASC), Norman Young was inducted as the association’s new president.

Founded in 1958, membership in the Automotive Sales Council is limited to no more than 100 individuals who are key manufacturer marketing executives in the automotive service industry. During the year, members of the Council meet in the form of round tables.

An active industry volunteer, Young has served the industry as an AASA/OAC Board Member and as a member of the Automotive Sales Council Executive Committee, making valuable industry connections and learning from the experiences of other automotive and business professionals he has worked with as industry volunteers along the way.

While supporting the industry as a volunteer, his “day jobs” included serving as vice president of sales and global service for Delphi; President and CEO of ThyseenKrupp Crankshaft and President/CEO of Weld Racing, a manufacturer of forged wheels and other high-performance accessories. He is currently a director at GT Technologies.

With a bachelor’s degree in automotive science and driving from Ferris State University and a master’s degree in business administration from the DeVos School of Business at Northwood, the Canadian-born executive said he feels the time spent interacting with many industry and economic speakers at meetings of the Automobile Sales Council, greatly strengthens his business knowledge.

Finding great value in the relationships built through interactions with Board members and realizing that the real value of being elected to the Board in 2014 is the knowledge gained from interacting with the other 99 executive members who attend the association’s meetings.

Young and his wife, Denise, live in Olathe, Kansas.
