How is the Specter technology?

The instruments are beautifully displayed analog dials on a digital screen, and as an advantage, their design and color can complement the trim. While most other cars have moved to mostly touchscreen controls, Rolls-Royce retains a significant number of nice tactile physical knobs and switches. Among them is the climate system and the screen-controller, which resembles the iDrive unit from BMW. But you’ll have to look hard to find any visible components shared with the BMW. Brand differentiation is impressively thorough.

Like any electric car, the phone app remotely shows range, charge status and many other features. The Rolls-Royce app also links to concierge services. Driver assistance features are extensive, but Rolls-Royces are used by most owners as special occasion cars. So high-level driver assistance is not required, the company says.

Edmunds says

The Specter is a big step for Rolls-Royce, but parent company BMW has the electric drive well-tuned, so there’s no reason to fear. In addition, the range will be more than enough, because Rolls-Royce owners do not drive cars – they drive a jet car. Most of all, the Specter needs to succeed as a Rolls-Royce, which means majestic, hedonistic, smooth and silent. There is no reason to believe that this will not be the case.
